Discover the 2021 Volvo XC90 Luxury SUV

The latest model year of the Volvo XC90 makes some substantial changes to the previous model year. Barrington, IL drivers can look forward to a host of new standard equipment options along with a handful of trim-specific options and an extension of the Recharge hybrid engine lineup. The Volvo XC90 is the sole three-row SUV option in the Volvo lineup and is available in eight trim levels (counting the Recharge variations).

Performance

The Volvo XC90 engine lineup includes three options, with the base engine being a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 variant. The base engine is demarcated as T5 for simplification and it offers up 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Slotting in the middle of the engine lineup a supercharged/turbocharged version of the base 2.0-liter inline-4 engine. The 2.0-liter turbocharged/supercharged (T6) version manages 316 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The T6 engine comes solely in an all-wheel drive version while the base T5 is available in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Sitting at the top of the Volvo XC90 engine lineup is a 2.0-liter turbocharged/supercharged inline-4 hybrid engine that's named the Recharge for short. The Recharge is far and away the most powerful option, offering up 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque. The Recharge features standard all-wheel drive. Regardless of the trim selected, Hoffman and Elgin, IL drivers can expect an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Safety

The new Volvo XC90 offers Palatine, IL drivers a modern mix of driver assistance features and classic safety equipment. Drivers can look forward to classic safety features like seat belts and airbags. As far as driver assistance features go, the Volvo XC90 offers up adaptive cruise control (with lane-keeping assistance), automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, front/rear parking sensors, and a self-parking feature.
